2027 Nissan Frontier Gets a Price Bump, Still Cheaper Than Toyota Tacoma

(0 reviews)

A Small Update Brings a Small Price Increase

After a big overhaul for 2025, the Nissan Frontier rolls into 2027 with just a handful of changes. No wild redesigns or new engines here – Nissan is mostly adding more gear and a fresh appearance package for folks who want a tougher look without going full PRO.

Of course, these updates come with a price hike. Every 2027 Frontier costs a bit more than last year, and even the destination fee creeps up from $1,695 to $1,745. It’s not a wallet-buster, but you’ll notice the difference.

Depending on trim, you’re looking at a $300 to $340 jump – so Nissan’s mostly just keeping up with the times, not trying to shake up the market.

What's New for 2027?

A new Sport Edition package for the SV 4x2 and 4x4 joins the lineup for the 2027 model year. For $990, you get a tougher look inspired by the PRO-X and PRO-4X, plus some real upgrades for anyone who likes to get their tires dirty. Think black 17-inch wheels with chunky Hankook all-terrains, an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights, front accent lighting, and blacked-out trim. Inside, yellow contrast stitching adds a splash of attitude.

There are a few smaller tweaks, too. PRO-X and PRO-4X buyers can now add a moonroof if they pick the Convenience Package. There’s a new Alpine Metallic paint option, and the wireless charging pad gets a Qi2 upgrade for faster, more reliable juice.

Otherwise, it’s business as usual. The 3.8-liter V6 sticks around with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, hooked up to a nine-speed auto. If you spec it right, you can tow up to 7,150 pounds. King Cab or Crew Cab, short or long bed – it’s all still on the menu.

Nissan

Still Cheaper Than the Tacoma

Even with the price bump, the Frontier still hangs onto its old ace: being the budget pick, especially versus the segment frontrunner, the Toyota Tacoma.

Check out the cheapest Crew Cab model: the 2027 Frontier S Crew Cab 4x2 with a 5-foot bed starts at $33,890 before destination. The closest Tacoma? The 2026 SR Double Cab Short Bed 4x2, at $33,905. So the Frontier sneaks in $15 cheaper – before you add in those pesky but mandatory fees.

But Toyota hasn’t dropped 2027 Tacoma prices yet. With prices climbing everywhere, odds are the Tacoma will get pricier too. If that happens, the Frontier’s edge could get a bit bigger.

According to Nissan, the 2027 Frontier will reach dealerships this June.
