China’s Boxy New SUV Is The Kind Of Forbidden Fruit America Wants

The 182.5-inch-long SUV rides on a 111-inch wheelbase, featuring short overhangs for maximum ground clearance, a side-opening tailgate with an external storage box, and optional 21-inch rims.

Under the hood lies a clever plug-in hybrid setup. A 1.5-liter turbocharged engine acts strictly as a generator, outputting up to 154 hp to support a 33.68 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack supplied by Gotion High-Tech. This translates to a pure-electric range of up to 93 miles (WLTC) and an ultra-frugal fuel consumption rate of roughly 153 mpg. Despite its 5,997 lb gross weight, the V25 can reach a top speed of 112 mph and handles heavy-duty work easily with an optional factory tow package rated at 3,968 lb of towing capacity.

The tech suite is equally high-caliber. An optional roof-mounted LiDAR module connects to a high-compute system powered by advanced chipsets, delivering up to 560 TOPS of processing power to run advanced, end-to-end autonomous driving software. This allows the rugged vehicle to tackle urban assisted driving, automated parking, and highway navigation.
