Chrysler’s One-Car Lineup May Finally Be Coming To An End

It's been far too long since the Pacifica had a companion in the lineup. For the longest time, Chrysler has been soldiering on with just one model, and no, we're not counting the discontinued Voyager as it was essentially a decontented Pacifica. It also doesn't help that the minivan is already about a decade old.

However, efforts are underway to revitalize the once-proud marque. When Stellantis presented its Fastlane 2030 vision, there were plans for Chrysler to expand its lineup. Should it all fall into place, the Pacifica can say forever alone no more.

Is This the Airflow?

Carscoops recently saw a Stellantis presentation that possibly shows the first true all-new Chrysler model in years. It's said to be the Airflow, bringing back a name that has sat dormant for almost 90 years.

Okay, it's a render of an allegedly new Chrysler product, as it's a computer-generated image. The model shown there wasn't named, either, so calling it something is speculation at the moment. Still, Carscoops called it an odd mix of a Cadillac and a Hyundai, and we do see it. The blocky profile is reminiscent of the Ioniq 5, while the rear pillar-mounted lights have a hint of Escalade going on.

Hopefully, Not AI

We know that Chrysler will be adding more models soon, and that they will be reasonably priced. However, we can't help but wonder if it's merely AI. Given Stellantis' recent track record with using that technology, there are, admittedly, some doubts.

Of course, it's hard to say for sure if the virtual car shown was an actual preview of things to come. Again, it's a CG image, and the final shape, if true, could still change. Either way, Chrysler desperately needs a model expansion, and it has needed one for years.

As for the real Airflow, it will ride on the STLA One platform. It's a modular chassis that's set to underpin about 30 Stellantis models. A wide variety of subcompact, compact, and midsize models will benefit from it, Chrysler included. With that in mind, the Airflow could be a compact crossover, given its sub-$40,000 target price.
