Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator Report for Duty with New Sarge Special Editions

There's no better brand to pull off a military-inspired special edition than Jeep, and the company is once again taking inspiration from the iconic Willys Jeep with new Wrangler and Gladiator special editions called Sarge. These form part of the eighth limited-edition release in Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve series (12 special editions in as many months) and wear several unique accents compared to regular Wranglers and Gladiators, adding durable upholstery and a slew of graphics that pay tribute to the 1941 Willys MB. Granted, there have been several Willys-inspired Jeep special editions in the past, but this one feels particularly well thought out.

New Looks for Wrangler and Gladiator Sarge Special Editions

Outside, the Wrangler and Gladiator Sarge, based on the Rubicon trims, revive the '41 Green paint finish introduced on special editions in 2020, complementing the brownish olive hue with several '41 decals. Opt for this color, and you get a white surround for the seven-slot grille and a white Freedom Top hardtop for a proper old-school military look. Opt for a Bright White body, and these elements come in '41 Green. The special edition also adds a "vintage-style" 1941 hood decal and star graphics for the doors, while bronze tow hooks add a splash of muted color. Special 17-inch wheels in the same verdant army-inspired hue as the body (featuring matching fender flares) complete the rugged effect, while 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain rubber ensures the retro wheels can conquer any territory. Overall, the Sarge treatment makes the timeless Wrangler and its Gladiator pickup sibling look even more utilitarian, and unlike other special editions that one might want to preserve and protect, the Sarge special editions would look just as handsome, if not more so, with scratches, dents, and nicks. The interior is similarly focused on function, but it has pleasing form, too.

Sarge Special Editions Give Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator a Resilient Cabin

Open the doors (if you haven't already blown them off in the name of freedom), and you're greeted by a new color combo, with Cattle Tan Nappa contrasted by Drab Green. Stellantis has provided a hard-wearing fabric for the seating surfaces and mid-instrument panel called Soul Cloth, giving buyers another reason to get the Wrangler and Gladiator dirty in the trenches. Mayan Gold contrast stitching is another highlight, albeit one only a sniper could see from these images, and as you'd expect for a special edition, there's a plaque or two pinned to the Sarge like a medal of honor. In these Jeeps, one of these appears with another large 1941 script ahead of the cup holder storing your liquid rations, while the other is like a dog tag with vital info, appearing on the swing gate where you load your combat gear. There's also another star motif on the gear lever.

You can give your orders later in the summer, and while specific pricing remains classified, Stellantis says, "At ease, soldier," promising a starting MSRP for the four-door Wrangler Sarge that is only $100 higher than a "comparably equipped" Willys or Rubicon model. Gladiator buyers will have to spend a little more at $500 over a similar Willys or Rubicon. Troops, dismissed.
