Kimera’s 1,000-HP Koenigsegg-Powered K39 Sounds Completely Unhinged

The Kimera K-39 marks many firsts for the Italian brand. Powering this lightweight beast is a detuned twin-turbo V8 from Sweden, making "just" a thousand horsepower. This is the most radical departure from what Kimera usually does.

Kimera's K-37 and K-38 models were already up there in terms of design and power, but let's be real here, the turbocharged four-cylinder may deliver a solid aural experience, but the Koenigsegg-powered K-39 is just better.

8 is greater than 4 – Confirmed

Thanks to this video from NM2255 | Raw Car Sounds, we now have definitive proof that a Koenigsegg twin-turbo V8 sounds amazing, as well as proof that the K39 looks awesome, especially in that metallic red paint job.

The idle sounds very aggressive, with a tone that indicates just how highly-strung the engine is. If you can also get past the insane amount of fan noise, you will be able to pick out all eight cylinders on a flat-plane crank, just ready to go. The fact that the exhaust system's travel is so short doesn't help reduce how wild this engine revs up.

Dare to Compare

In the latter part of the video, we see another Kimera come through. The Kimera K37 Martini certainly has its own appeal, packing a very Group B rally-style soundtrack behind the driver, complete with backfires and turbo sounds galore.

The video goes on to show the K-37 in action in several other clips from the Goodwood Festival of Speed. While the sounds from this clip make a great case for the turbocharged four-cylinder from the Kimera stable, we'd like to see the K39 have a go. Perhaps the next Goodwood Festival of Speed will offer Kimera Automobili an opportunity to showcase its latest collaborative effort.

Coming very soon, however, will be Kimera's Pikes Peak Hill Climb venture with the K-39. Hopefully, no more delays to get the K-39 hypercar out on this course.
