Coming to All 2020 or Newer Volvos
Sure, cars these days are packed with massive screens and more apps than you’ll ever use, but let’s be honest: nothing beats good music on the road. No wonder streaming has become a must-have for modern cars.
Apple Music, now boasting over 100 million subscribers as of early 2026, is right up there with Spotify in the streaming wars. That said, rather than fiddling with your phone every time you start the engine, more automakers, such as Volvo, are baking these services straight into the dashboard.
Volvo just announced that Apple Music is coming to over two million Volvos via an over-the-air update, covering pretty much every model launched this decade – and with a free subscription in tow if you qualify.

Apple Music Comes Built In
If you’ve got a Volvo from 2020 or newer – think EX90, ES90, XC90, XC60, XC40, EX40, EC40, S90, S60, V90, or V60 – you’re in luck. The update’s coming your way, though exactly when depends on your model.
Once the update lands, just log in with your Apple account and you’ve got over 100 million songs, playlists, albums, and live radio stations at your fingertips – no phone juggling required. Control it all with the touchscreen or just tell your Volvo what you want to hear, so your hands stay where they belong.
Volvo’s sweetening the deal, too. If you’re new to Apple Music or coming back after a break, you can score up to three months free. Just claim it through the Volvo Cars app before July 6, 2027.
EX60, EX90, and ES90 owners get an extra treat. If you spring for the 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, you’ll unlock Apple Music Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos. Volvo claims it’s like sitting in the middle of the music, with instruments and vocals swirling all around you – not just blasting from the dashboard.

Timed With The Arrival Of The EX60
This software news drops just as the automaker is gearing up to hand over the first Volvo EX60 electric SUVs to customers this summer. The EX60 is a big deal for Volvo. It’s the first to ride on the brand’s new SPA3 800-volt platform. In the US, the single-motor P6 RWD Plus starts at $58,400, while the dual-motor P10 AWD kicks off at $60,750. Go for the P10, and you get 503 horsepower and up to 322 miles of range, courtesy of a beefier battery.
Opt for the Ultra trim, and you can add that Bowers & Wilkins system, unlocking Apple Music Spatial Audio. Just another reason to check out Volvo’s latest electric SUV.
With Apple Music hitting almost every recent Volvo and the EX60 rolling out soon, Volvo’s in-car experience is quickly becoming as much about the tunes as it is about the tech.
