Rezvani’s New Dune Looks Like An 800-HP Lamborghini Sterrato Gone Wild

Supercars Got Mud On Their Shoes

The global pandemic is remembered in the automotive industry as a major supply-chain disruptor that caused delays and financial losses. On the other hand, it also boosted interest in off-road recreation, including ATVs and dirt bikes. Around the same period, Porsche and Lamborghini introduced off-road-ready versions of their supercars with the 911 Dakar and Huracán Sterrato, respectively.

Over at Lamborghini, the Huracán Sterrato does not yet have a direct successor, with the broader Huracán nameplate now succeeded by the Temerario. Still, for those who want a supercar capable of tackling challenging terrain, California-based Rezvani has an answer with the Dune. Full details have yet to be disclosed, but there are several reasons to believe it is based on the Huracán Sterrato.

A Familiar Shape In The Shadows

Looking at the silhouette in the teaser, the shadowy car has proportions similar to those of the Huracán Sterrato. It is harder to be certain because Rezvani appears to have changed the lighting, particularly at the rear. Each taillight appears to feature an illuminated circular ring connected to two parallel horizontal LED bars stretching toward the outer edges of the car.

The use of a 5.2-liter V10 also strongly suggests that the Dune is based on the off-road-ready Lambo. However, Rezvani has added a supercharger, raising output to 800 horsepower – nearly 200 hp more than the Huracán Sterrato. Aside from increasing power, a supercharger could prove useful off-road because it is driven mechanically by the engine rather than by exhaust gases in turbochargers, providing more immediate and predictable throttle response when rock crawling or powering through mud.

Rezvani says the Dune features a fully bespoke wide-body carbon-fiber exterior, lifted performance suspension, and aggressive all-terrain tires.

Gone Before The Dust Settles

Unfortunately for interested buyers, the Dune will be limited to just seven examples. A refundable $1,500 deposit is required to reserve a build slot, while the full unveiling is scheduled for late July.

Given Rezvani’s previous work, including the Ford F-150 Raptor-based Fortress that looks more like a tactical vehicle than an off-road truck, it would not be surprising if the Dune were not immediately recognized as a Lamborghini. That could be a good thing for buyers who want to stand out, even if the seven examples may spend much of their time in isolation on off-road terrain.
