The BMW M5 Touring Just Got A 790-HP Makeover From Alpina’s Family

(0 reviews)

From Alpina Spin-Off To Luxury Wagon Builder

You might not be familiar with the Bovensiepen name, but Bimmer fans know the family behind it like an old friend. When BMW scooped up Alpina and folded it into the mothership, the Bovensiepen crew wasted no time. They slapped their own name on the door and kept the tradition of building rare, high-performance machines alive – just with a new badge.

Their first act? The Bovensiepen Zagato, a coachbuilt coupe with BMW M4 bones and Italian flair, thanks to a team-up with the legendary Zagato. Now, they're back with something completely different – a grand tourer that trades curves for cargo space.

Meet the Bovensiepen 05 GT. Bovensiepen’s second act, and they've taken the already wild BMW M5 Touring and given it a full luxury makeover.

Frank Stephenson's Touch Elevates The M5 Touring

To give the 05 GT some extra flair, Bovensiepen called in Frank Stephenson – the guy who penned the original BMW X5, brought the Mini Cooper back to life, and has left his mark on Ferrari, Maserati, and McLaren. Not a bad name to have on your team.

Up front, the 05 GT gets a bold stainless-steel grille, beefier air intakes, and bodywork that makes this wagon look both sharp and serious. There's a wraparound design line tying the whole lower body together, and if you're feeling fancy, you can pick a contrasting color for that accent – or just match it to the paint if you want to keep things subtle.

It rolls on custom 21-inch forged wheels with a multi-spoke look, and out back, a titanium Akrapovič exhaust with four oval pipes hints that this wagon is more than just a pretty face.

Inside, each car gets its own numbered plaque, and the cabin is drenched in leather. There's a hand-finished Lavalina steering wheel, aluminum paddles, and more personalization options than you can shake a stick at. Pick your leather color, add some wild stitching, throw in embroidery, or go for custom trim – the coachbuilt vibe is strong here.

Over $200,000 Price Tag

Like any good Alpina, Bovensiepen didn't just slap on some new bodywork and call it a day. Under the hood, they've tweaked the intake, dialed in the software, and let the Akrapovič exhaust breathe a little easier.

The payoff? A wild 790 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque – way more than your average M5 Touring. Bovensiepen says the 05 GT will rocket from 0 to 62 mph in under 3.6 seconds and top out at 190 mph.

They've also beefed up the chassis with tuned suspension, Eibach springs, tweaked bearings, and Pirellis stamped with BOV logos. The aim, of course, is sharper handling, but still comfy enough for a cross-country blast.

The Bovensiepen 05 GT will start reaching customers in late 2026, with prices kicking off at €198,900 (about $230,000) in Germany – before you start ticking the options boxes.
