When A Mustang Gets Horns

No regular Ford Mustang production has come with a twin-turbo setup from the factory. When it comes to forced induction, the Mustang has typically used either a turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder or a supercharged V8, including the latest Dark Horse SC, which makes 795 horsepower.

Still, twin-turbo Mustangs exist in the aftermarket scene, including this 2018 Mustang GT nicknamed “El Toro.” Built by cloutstang, its name comes from the horned exhaust pipes protruding from the engine bay that shoot flames, giving it dramatic flair as the car produces a claimed 1,000 horsepower.

Adding Fuel To The Fire

The theatrics are made possible by a Hot Licks flame kit. However, the modification does not add any performance gains. That does not mean it is useless, though. Instead, it helps the build gain more traction on social media, which could give the owner more opportunities to continue developing the car.

The owner’s next round of upgrades includes a big single-turbo setup. It currently runs an Aluminator short-block V8 with stock Gen 3 heads and timing components, while the valve springs have been upgraded. Supporting hardware includes a Holley Sniper intake, a triple-pump fuel system, and 1,450 cc Bosch Motorsport injectors.

Some exterior upgrades include a GT500 front bumper from American Muscle, a GT500 carbon-fiber Track Pack wing, and GT350 front fenders. The car also rides on 315/50R17 tires intended for roll racing. Inside, it features a C2 Customs steering wheel, carbon-fiber paddle shifters, a digital dash conversion, custom leather seat covers, and a Hurst pistol-grip shifter.

The Road Back

According to the owner, the Mustang was wrecked about two years ago before being put back together, and it now carries a rebuilt title. If it were not for the horned exhaust pipes, this would likely appear to be just another Mustang build, but that goes to show how a little creativity can help car builders stand out.

While waiting to see how the new big single-turbo setup performs on this build, Mustang GT owners looking to add forced induction without building everything from scratch can turn to specialist Mustang tuners, including Roush Performance, which offers a supercharger kit that boosts output to 810 horsepower.
