Geely's Upmarket Galaxy Lineup Sets Sights on the Off-Road Crown
Geely's upmarket Galaxy lineup has been on an absolute tear in the international market lately. The brand has completely redefined expectations by showing the world what a massive three-row family hauler for a $35,000 price tag can actually deliver. They also clearly like to play along the lines of what they can get away with design-wise. The company recently launched a sedan that practically borrows an AMG grille right off a Mercedes.
Now they have a new flagship off-road monster that can easily make the Toyota Land Cruiser quake in its all-terrain boots. This fresh competitor trades subtle luxury for absolute brute force and a boxy go-anywhere stance. The off-road community takes notice when a brand brings this much innovation to the table. Toyota might finally have a rival that pushes the boundaries of modern hybrid adventuring.

Bringing 1,113 Horsepower to the Dirt
The newly revealed Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 is making serious waves across the industry. According to CarNewsChina, this plug-in hybrid SUV means absolute business. The vehicle utilizes a petrol-powered internal combustion engine paired with three electric motors. This potent combination generates a staggering 830 kW of peak output. That translates to an unbelievable 1,113 horsepower. Two electric motors sit on the rear axle and are linked via a fluid-coupled locking mechanism to maximize traction.
This setup makes the American-market Toyota Land Cruiser look incredibly underpowered by comparison. The current US-bound Land Cruiser utilizes a hybrid powertrain, making a respectable 326 horsepower. Geely brings more than triple that output to the table while maintaining a surprisingly light curb weight of 6,349 lb. The Galaxy Cruiser 700 even boasts a self-developed dynamic control system. This advanced setup reportedly allows the vehicle to pass the challenging 80 km/h moose test with flying colors.
Technology is heavily integrated into the rugged package from top to bottom. The roof houses a LiDAR sensor while a millimeter-wave radar sits neatly inside the massive front bumper. A cutting-edge Nvidia AGX Thor chip powers the assisted driving system, enabling hands-free navigation on urban roads. A swing-out tailgate with a full-size spare tire completes the classic off-road look. Geely solves the resulting visibility issues by utilizing a high-definition streaming rearview mirror.

The Automotive Blue Balls
Chinese brands like Geely have been giving us the automotive equivalent of blue balls for years. They constantly dangle over-engineered future cars with budget prices that American consumers simply cannot have. The hardware on display is consistently mind-blowing. They offer supercar power and extreme luxury for the cost of a mid-tier domestic crossover. We are left watching from afar as international markets get to enjoy these highly capable machines.
Geely explicitly confirmed that it has ambitious goals of entering the US auto market in the near future. Their corporate partnerships are already stateside, with Volvo executives stating their willingness to build these low-cost EVs in American factories. However, continued legislative pressure against foreign automotive technology might make that quite an impossible feat. Until the regulatory landscape shifts, American drivers will have to settle for admiring these 1,100-horsepower hybrid titans strictly through our phone screens.
