Storylines

Twenty years deep at Norwalk and the layers keep getting denser. NHRA’s 10th race of 2026 brings four defending winners back to defend, a Saturday Pro Stock spectacle that didn’t exist a year ago, and a championship picture that’s tightening at the halfway mark of the season.

Ashley returns to defend Top Fuel

Justin Ashley took the Top Fuel Wally at Norwalk in 2025 and arrives this weekend with the chance to repeat at a track that’s produced Brittany Force’s 3.666 ET record (June 2022) and Doug Kalitta’s 337.16 mph mark (June 2024). The Norwalk surface has been good for the Top Fuel field for two decades. Ashley will need to be sharp to hold off Antron Brown, the active-driver leader with two Norwalk wins.

Prock defends Funny Car at the track he owns

Austin Prock isn’t just the defending Norwalk Funny Car winner. He owns the Norwalk track record (3.853, June 2024) and the NHRA national mile-per-hour record (341.68 mph, Pomona, November 2024). Prock is the prohibitive favorite to repeat. The question is who can challenge – Jack Beckman has three Norwalk wins to his name, the most among active Funny Car drivers, and Bob Tasca III holds the Norwalk top-speed mark at 336.82 mph from June 2024.

The GETTRX All-Star Pro Stock Callout takes over Saturday

This is the marquee Saturday spectacle. The GETTRX All-Star Pro Stock Callout runs three rounds of eliminations on Saturday (11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.) with FS1 dedicating a full hour of Sunday coverage to it at 11 a.m. ET. Cory Reed won the regular Pro Stock Wally at Norwalk in 2025. Greg Anderson and Erica Enders both come into the weekend with three career Norwalk wins each, the most among active Pro Stock drivers.

Pro Mod gets four qualifying shots

The JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports gets a full four qualifying sessions over Friday and Saturday (4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday) before Sunday eliminations. With the field stacked at the top of the season and parity arguments running hot across the Pro Mod world, every session matters. The Norwalk Pro Mod call sheet has historically been one of the season’s deepest.

PSM: Hall defends, Smith has the wins, Herrera owns the records

John Hall took the Pro Stock Motorcycle Wally at Norwalk in 2025. Matt Smith leads active riders with three Norwalk wins. Gaige Herrera holds the Norwalk PSM track record (6.698, June 2024) and the NHRA national PSM ET mark (6.627, Dallas, October 2023). When the Pro Stock Motorcycle field stages on Sunday, three of the sport’s brightest names will be hunting the same trophy.

Qualifying

Final qualifying results will post here Saturday after Q4. Check back for live updates as the Mission Foods Series, Pro Mod, Top Alcohol, Factory Stock Showdown, and Pro Stock Callout fields take shape.

Eliminations

NHRA Mission Foods Series eliminations begin Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. The complete elimination ladder, round-by-round results, and winners will post here as the action unfolds. Top Alcohol eliminations run Saturday at 4:30 p.m. GETTRX All-Star Pro Stock Callout eliminations run Saturday at 11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Event Hub Founding Sponsor

JEGS

The Performance Authority

Some sponsorships are transactions. This one is hometown. JEGS High Performance was born in Delaware, Ohio in 1960 when Jeg Coughlin Sr. started moving speed parts out of a garage. Sixty-plus years later, JEGS is a four-generation family operation that touches almost every corner of grassroots and pro drag racing – and Summit Motorsports Park sits a 90-minute drive from where it all started.

When the Coughlins talk about the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, they’re talking about their home race. Same way Detroit talks about Belle Isle, same way Indianapolis talks about the 500. Norwalk is JEGS country.

That’s why JEGS is the Founding Sponsor of the 2026 Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Event Hub on dragillustrated.com. Friday qualifying through Sunday’s winner’s circle, every results table, every storyline, every photo on this page is presented by the family that built JEGS into what it is today. Four generations of Coughlins. One performance authority. One home race.
