The 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship kicks off next weekend, and RZR Factory Racing enters the season with a target squarely on its back as the team chases an unprecedented fourth consecutive championship.
The campaign opens with the legendary San Felipe 250 (March 25–29), widely considered one of the most punishing races in desert competition. Known for miles of relentless Baja whoops and brutal sections like Zoo Road and Matomi Wash, San Felipe is a true test of endurance, where shock setup, racecraft, and vehicle durability can make or break a run.
Polaris arrives more prepared than ever with the 2026 RZR Pro R Factory, continuing to refine and evolve the platform after each event. With key learnings carried over from last season, the team enters the SCORE opener with heightened confidence in the vehicle’s capability to withstand Baja’s harshest conditions.
The driver lineup blends proven dominance with emerging talent. Reigning two-time champion Brock Heger returns as one of the sport’s most formidable competitors, while Cayden MacCachren looks to build on his second Baja 1000 victory and convert momentum into a title run.
The team also welcomes rising drivers Ethan Groom and Joe Terrana. Groom, who has previously served as a co-driver within the program, earned his opportunity through consistent performance and deep familiarity with the team. Terrana enters his first full SCORE season with Polaris after making the switch from Polaris’ top competitor, a move that not only strengthens the factory lineup but adds a compelling rivalry storyline as he transitions to the team he once chased.
Adding another compelling storyline to the season, the competitive landscape is evolving. With the RZR Pro R Factory now available, more teams are lining up in the RZR Pro R Factory — giving them an equal footing in terms of machinery. As other racers look to challenge the factory effort, the question becomes, can anyone dethrone one of the most dominant teams in desert racing? Veteran Polaris racer and past Baja 1000 winner Branden Sims could be that person poised to contend, as the San Felipe 250 marks his first appearance behind the wheel of his new RZR Pro R Factory.
