It’s been four years since Montaigne last embarked on a national headline tour, but the wait is finally over.
The acclaimed Sydney art-pop artist has announced a special run of Australian dates celebrating the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough debut album Glorious Heights, performing the record in full for the very first time alongside fan faves spanning the rest of their career.
Montaigne – ‘In The Dark’
The anniversary tour will visit 10 venues across Australia this August, giving fans the chance to revisit the album that introduced Montaigne as one of the country’s most distinctive musical voices.
“I’m really excited to bring my audience together once again to sing, laugh, and cry together, especially for these songs which are especially powerful in a communal setting,” Montaigne said.
“I’m so much more confident on stage now than I was 10 years ago and I can’t wait to bring an unfiltered, theatrical experience that hopefully inspires folks to feel free and expressive in their own lives.”
Released in 2016, Glorious Heights debuted at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earned Montaigne the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist, launching a career defined by fearless songwriting, theatrical performances and genre-defying experimentation.
In the decade since, Montaigne has represented Australia at Eurovision, collaborated with David Byrne, received a Grammy nomination for their work on the acclaimed musical video game Stray Gods, and released their first fully self-produced album, it’s hard to be a fish, which picked up nominations at both the Australian Music Prize and AIR Awards.
They’ve also amassed hundreds of millions of streams across collaborations with artists including Hilltop Hoods, Tom Cardy, Ninajirachi and Daði Freyr, while their viral duet with Cardy, Red Flags, has surpassed 170 million YouTube views.
Now, fans will have the chance to experience the album that started it all, performed front-to-back in an intimate live setting for the first time.
