External Portable Harddrives

As a DJ I need reliable external harddrive space. Previously utilized the samsung T9 4TB drive and it was great. Never failed me in the years I used it as my music source while DJing using VirtualDJ.

Well I have added a bunch more to my song list and I outgrew my 4TB of storage. Yes, I know, I just need to go through a clean out the songs I don’t listen to. Already cleared out any duplicates but haven’t listened to all the songs but I love having songs ready for anyone who requests them.

Anyhow, purchased the Sandisk 8TB external harddrive (so much smaller and slower) but having an issue where it just randomly disconnects which I can not have because I don’t even notice it disconnected until my songs aren’t playing.

So whats an option. I first looked at Sandisk competition for around the same price which is the Samsung T5 EVO but after looking at some reports in comparison to the T9 I used, the T5 EVO is much much slower and I believe i will have the same issues with the disconnects.

I see the option I know I would be perfectly fine with but the price is double and its the OWC Express 1M2.
Designed to support any NVMe M.2 2230, 2242, or 2280 SSD, the Express 1M2 gives you the freedom of flexibility to use any drive today – including OWC Aura SSDs up to 8.0TB capacity – as well as being ready for tomorrow’s 16TB and future capacities without limit. So this covers the today and the future without having to buy a new drive. Seems to obvious besides the price.

Time will tell but I probably will just start saving those spare dollar bills for the correct solution which is that OWC Express 1M2
