If you think that historic races like the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Revival, and Members Meet are just for show, think again. I once talked to Vic and Cammie Edelbrock about their vintage road racing efforts and Vic told me that while rubbing was discouraged, and it was all supposed to be in fun, they were still racing and sometimes trading paint just happened. And it’s understandable since there are race car drivers behind the wheel of some of these machines and we all know how that can be. S

I love donor vehicle builds like this one. What I mean by that is when you buy a car, or parts from the wrecking yard, to build something new and exciting in a way it never was before. My 1956 Chevy station wagon for instance, has a 1994 Caprice 9C1 cop car chassis and drivetrain under it. It was a great way to get a modern efi drivetrain, plus big brakes and much better suspension, all while repairing the rusty floors. We used everything we could out of the donor cop car and it worked out great

The Mid-West Drag Racing Series is collapsing two of its 2026 Flying H Drag Strip dates into a single weekend, turning what had been the June and October Smack Down stops into a four-day double-header September 24-27 – two complete, separately scored races run back-to-back with their own purses, their own qualifying, and their own eliminations. Series founder Keith Haney announced the move alongside Flying H Drag Strip owner Scott Higgs, citing a stack of scheduling and economic pressure poi

This weekend marked the 9th Annual running of the revived Doorslammers event, powered by Fueltech, at Santa Pod Raceway. Being an outlaw event, there is always a huge variety of cars and combinations that don’t fit the standard FIA rulebook, and some of the cars running in FIA competition will change their combos for this event only. With Andy Robinson and the Anger Management team being one of the few remaining Pro Mod cars using a clutch, they decided to take full advantage of the Outlaw forma

For full-time Chicago firefighter and Funny Car driver and team owner Chris King the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by Peak was a solid start to his 2026 NHRA season. It has taken me several days to be able to post something like this on BANGshift. Posting it the day we found out about the loss of our great friend would have been the smart thing for page views and likes and all the crap we unfortunately are measured on, but it just didn’t feel right. Hell, this weekend I spoke about Kyle at Holley’s LSFest Texas and couldn’t do it without getting choked up. Yesterday I spoke with Matt Frost and our conversation about Kyle featured several cracks of my voice a

If you are new around there then you might not know that we seriously dig Formula Off-Road racing here at BANGshift.com. This is high flying, loud, and intense racing that involves what look to be impossible hillclimbs, usually on giant courses made from pea gravel or something similar. It’s intense, the cars often end up upside down or rolling over down a hill. They end up rightside up on their own sometimes, but regardless the action is fun and kind of nuts. These drivers do some stuff that I’

Monster Trucks are awesome machines, and the things they are capable of doing are mind boggling at times. But as fast, and crazy, and high flying as they are, top speed is not the thing you think of when you think Monster Trucks. No, you think jumps and slap wheelies and back flips, hell even front flips, but even the famed Cyclones that they do in them aren’t all that fast. So when you see one go out and try to set a new world speed record for a monster truck, it is kind of special. I can tell

Randy Pobst can wheel a race car, and on too many occasions to count we’ve seen him do it. But he also enjoys a quick and fast street car which means that upgrades are often in order. In this video series we’ll see his 1977 Pontiac Trans Am get some suspension love. But don’t think that this is some old original worn out machine that is getting the upgrades so they can show a huge improvement. No, this car has had a bunch of work done to it to get it into ship shape, and now it’s time for more.

The Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car team of Alexis DeJoria carried the John Force Racing banner proudly at Route 66 Raceway on the way to their second runner-up finish of the season in the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK. DeJoria left the starting line a mere six-thousandths-of-a-second behind Chad Green and made a strong run of 3.965 seconds at 328.86 mph but it wasn’t enough to get around Green’s winning run of 3.945 seconds at 324.75 mph.
