The First Drag Race presented by Robbin’s Repairables set at Shadyside Dragway ignited the 2026 ten-race championship season for the Southeast Gassers Association. From the creek side to the top of the North Carolina hills, the small vale of Shadyside roared with life, echoing the glory days of the 1960s gasser and drag racing. The racers of SEGA launched with parts straining revolutions, slammed all four gears by hand with no electronic aid, and streaked over the finish stripe to the delight of

We hear about car thefts all the time, and have been victims ourselves, so when we saw this story on the national news this morning we knew we had to share it. In 1969, after returning home from the Vietnam War, David Munoz bought a brand new Fathom Green 1969 Camaro. He drove the car daily for years, and then when his son Victor turned 16 he gave him the car. In 2009, while sitting at a body shop getting work done to it, the car was stolen and thought lost forever. Who knew that in 2026, while

There’s a version of the Pro Mod rules debate that plays out in comment sections and Facebook groups, where people who have never tuned a race car tell those who have exactly what needs to happen. “Stevie Fast” Jackson is not one of those people. He’s built the engines, logged the dyno pulls, and spent the money. Now he’s making the important call about where he thinks Pro Mod is heading. Killin’ Time Racing is going centrifugal. All the way. “We’re building 13 of these things right now,

I don’t know any car guys and gals who don’t like mini bikes and go karts, and in recent years there is no better engine than a Predator from Harbor Freight. Freiburger and I built mini bikes nearly 20 years ago, when these Predators first came out, and I can tell you that the 6.5 horsepower engine made way more power than the 4 hp that came on them and it make them a riot to ride. With a little intake and carb love and exhaust it made more power, but we had no clue how much. Thanks to Frankie a

When you make enough trades, there is no doubt that occasionally you won’t end up making out exactly as planned. Doesn’t mean the car or truck you trade for sucks, but maybe it just doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Meanwhile I’ve also known folks who made trades or buys only to find out that the car or truck is not what it was said to be. We’ve all heard about engines there were “rebuilt” only to find out they were just painted. So is that what happened to Mortske on this one? Is this lowe

Here’s a livestream replay from the Southeast Gassers Association’s First Race of 2026 at Shadyside Dragway in North Carolina. If you like traditional nose high gassers that still row the gears, still have names on the side, and still have backup girls, then this is the racing for you. Their whole mantra is to race like it’s 1967 and if you haven’t seen their races yet, you are going to want to grab a snack and a drink and click play. This is some awesome racing action. The post Southeast

Desert Cash Days Video: Middle Of Nowhere Mexico Street Race For Big Money! Wheels Up On The Street!
While living in Southern California, I went to many a street race out in the middle of nowhere in the high desert. There is something about racing that far out that just makes it hit different. This race featured some killer small tire cars and lots and lots of wheels up action. Video Description: It’s been awhile but we’re back in the Mexico desert for another small tire cash days. 17 small tire cars got together in (quite literally) the middle of nowhere to compete in a classic, single elimi- 0 comments

During the 66th Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals the NHRA was celebrating its 75th anniversary and the running of the 1000th Funny Car race. For Top Fuel team owner and Funny Car and Top Fuel driver Travis Shumake, whose father Tripp, was a beloved driver throughout his career, the weekend was an emotional experience. The younger Shumake entered a nostalgia Funny Car with the livery his father race when he won the 1981 Southern Nationals, the 100th Funny Car race in NHRA history. “This was an am

Chad Green of Midland, Tex., drove his nitro-burning CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang Funny Car to the quarterfinals Sunday at the famed NHRA Winternationals drag races at the In-N-Out Burger Dragstrip in a rain-delayed event. After two sun-drenched days of qualifying at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds racing plant, Green, who qualified sixth, and the 16-driver Funny Car field had to play a waiting game with a series of rainstorms pelting the facility throughout Sunday morning and afternoon. (Photos by David Whealon) – The PDRA Carolina Nationals from Darlington were cold and challenging, but we’ve got a bunch of photos from David Whealon showing just how cool the cars and racing action were. While they were not able to finish the event, because of weather and cold track temps, the final two rounds of eliminations will be contested at this weekend’s East Coast Nationals at Darana Motorsports Park GALOT. That means fans and racers are in for three big days of racing with Thursday’s a

Old race cars are cool, but old race cars owned and raced by the same people for decades is even cooler. That is exactly what this cool 1955 Chevrolet is. Rene Garza is the man behind this great ’55, and we love him for it. We’re going to let Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, tell the story only as he can. This is greatness. Video Description: Rene Garza has been winning races for more than 50 years, always in the same car! This 1955 Chevy 210 was his daily transportation through high schoo

While ARP’s engineering team is constantly developing fastener kits for late model engines like the Chevy LS/LT, Ford Coyote and Chrysler Gen III Hemi plus related aftermarket block/cylinder head combinations, they also step back in time to meet the needs of enthusiasts. Such is the case of ARP’s new head stud kit #151-4002 for 1927-31 Ford 201 c.i.d. Model A 4-cylinder engines. The kit includes 8740 chrome moly studs, parallel ground washers, and forged, hardened, CNC machined and polished stai

Small tire drag racing has been the hot thing for the past few years, and with all kinds of small tire classes taking over events all over the country for the last few years, it is no wonder the IHRA decided they wanted to jump on the bandwagon as well. Small Tire No Time drag racing has not typically been something you’d see at national event level races, so when IHRA made the announcement it hit really hard with the No Time racing community. Add to that big payouts and it’s no wonder they have

(Words By Darr Hawthorne) • Drag racing, and motorsports in general, has never been an easy sell. It wasn’t in 1965, it wasn’t in 1985, and it sure isn’t now. Somewhere along the way, we all started pretending it should be. Here’s the reality: nobody wakes up on a Saturday morning automatically deciding to go to the dragstrip anymore. Families have options, endless options. Youth sports, concerts, beach and lake days, streaming services, backyard barbecues. If you’re not already in their head b

A couple of weeks ago we shared the video of Derek picking up this machine and getting it ready to drive 850 miles home. Seemed like a pretty stout trip in an unknown RV, but that was nothing when compared to the 3,000 miles planned for this trip here. I mean this is 7 states of fun, which means this bad boy needs to be ready to drive, camp, cook, and more. Will this vintage big block powered RV make it around the country? I don’t see why not! Many just like it drove millions of combined miles

There are tons of historic spots around Southern California that impacted hot rodding, racing, and custom car building over the last 80 years or so, but no matter how many you can think of there are hundreds more. I was going to say dozens, but that just won’t cover it. Not by a lot. Having been fortunate enough to see many of them with David over the years, and having heard the history from so many during my time living there, I can tell you that they are nearly everywhere you look.
