Installation of Tacacs+ on Ubuntu
I'm having a difficult time here getting tacacs to work. I can get it to authenticate but never do any restrictions. I verified my IOS is above 11.1 (its actually 12.x) I followed these instructions which are pretty close to yours STEP 1: Login to the ubuntu server and run the command as sudo (installing dependency packages) sudo apt-get install gcc flex bison STEP 2: download the tacplus package from ftp://ftp.shrubbery.net/pub/tac_plus STEP 3: I am using the stable version tacacs+-F4.0.4.26.tar.gz transfer the file to any directory inside your ubuntu server untar the file tar xvf tacacs+-F4.0.4.26.tar.gz
This creates a folder tacacs+-F4.0.4.26 STEP 4: Building tacplus First get in the directory where you extracted all those files ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'cd tacacs+-F4.0.4.26').'' Then initiate the tac plus build script ''.str_replace(' ', '', './configure').'' Then run the command that will compile tacacs source files ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'make install').'' STEP 5: Setting up the configuration files for Tac Plus Create a folder tacacs under /etc/ ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'mkdir /etc/tacacs').'' Create a file tac_plus.conf under /etc/tacacs ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'touch tac_plus.conf').'' Copy the below to your new tac_plus.conf your just created Defined 4 users 2 users with full access 1 user who will be having only read only privilege who can just run show commands 1 user with full access meanwhile having a different enable password. For all the users except user4 enable password will be the same. Update with your DES passwords by running ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'sudo /usr/local/bin/tac_pwd').'' Create a file tac_plus under /etc/init.d/ and make it executable''.str_replace(' ', '', ' touch /etc/init.d/tac_plus chmod 755 tac_plus').'' (This command will give execute previlege for the tac_plus file for the root user) Copy the below contents to /etc/init.d/tac_plus Create a file tac_plus under /etc/default''.str_replace(' ', '', ' touch /etc/default/tac_plus chmod 755 tac_plus').'' (This command will give execute previlege for the tac_plus file for the root user) Copy the contents below to /etc/default/tac_plus tac_plus options defined ''.str_replace(' ', '', ' -d Value Meaning 2 configuration parsing debugging 4 fork(1) debugging 8 authorization debugging 16 authentication debugging 32 password file processing debugging 64 accounting debugging 128 config file parsing & lookup 256 packet transmission/reception 512 encryption/decryption 1024 MD5 hash algorithm debugging 2048 very low level encryption/decryption 32768 max session debugging 65536 lock debugging').'' Create a file tacacs.log under /var/log/tac-plus to log all the aaa activities''.str_replace(' ', '', ' mkdir /var/log/tac-plus touch /var/log/tac-plus/tacacs.log').'' OTHER TAC_PLUS FILES STEP 6: Starting and Stopping Tac Plus To start tacacs: ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'sudo /etc/init.d/tac_plus start ').'' or ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'sudo tac_plus -C /etc/tacacs/tac_plus.conf').'' To stop tacacs: ''.str_replace(' ', '', '/etc/init.d/tac_plus stop').'' STEP 7: Verify tacacs is running by looking at listening on TCP Port 49? ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'sudo netstat -na | grep 49').'' Tacacs runs on TCP Port 49 and the expected output should be ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:49 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN').'' log files have output ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'sudo tail -f /var/log/tac-plus/tacacs.log').'' Please go through the logs and look for tac plus software related errors STEP 8: Configure your Cisco Switches

How to install FreeRadius Server on Ubuntu Server 12.04
So close... I had only a few objectives Central user management for Cisco control = RADIUS or TACACS (which I prefer RADIUS because it works on more than Cisco stuff) Set and Pass on privilege set (0-15) per user = RADIUS or TACACS Show who logged in where and what commands where issued (All I see is TACACS doing that, not so much RADIUS)

Identifying a Windows Memory Leak
The symptoms of a memory leak include the following: A gradually worsening response time. The appearance of error messages indicating that system services have stopped. The appearance of the following error message indicating that the system is low on virtual memory. If you suspect that a particular application or service is causing a memory leak, investigate the memory use of your applications using the following counters: Memory\Available Bytes reports available bytes; its value tends to fall during a memory leak. Memory\Committed Bytes reports the private bytes committed to processes; its value tends to rise during a memory leak. Process\Private Bytes reports bytes allocated exclusively for a specific process; its value tends to rise for a leaking process. Process\Working Set reports the shared and private bytes allocated to a process; its value tends to rise for a leaking process. Process\Page Faults/sec reports the total number of faults (hard and soft faults) caused by a process; its value tends to rise for a leaking process. Process\Page File Bytes reports the size of the paging file; its value tends to rise during a memory leak. Process\Handle Count reports the number of handles that an application opened for objects it creates. Handles are used by programs to identify resources they must access. The value of this counter tends to rise during a memory leak; however, you cannot rule out a leak simply because this counter's value is stable. Memory Leaks and the Nonpaged Pool Although any leak is serious, memory leaks are of particular concern when they involve the nonpaged pool. Many system services allocate memory from the nonpaged pool because they need to reference it when processing an interrupt and cannot take a page fault at that time. To identify whether or not a leak affects the nonpaged pool, include the following counters in your monitoring: Memory\Pool Nonpaged Bytes Memory\Pool Nonpaged Allocs Process\Pool Nonpaged Bytes Example of a Leaky Application The following graphs are an example of an application with a memory leak. The leaky application is constantly requesting more memory. It is characterized by increasing Process/Page File Bytes at the same rate as the system Committed Bytes; i.e. all memory commitment is due to one process. Available Bytes are decreasing steadily until the system pages something out and then the Virtual Bytes increase to make room for more Available Bytes. The Working Set of the leaky application actually decreases when parts of it get paged out. Note how Page Faults/sec increases as Available Bytes decline. Test Exercise The Windows Resource Kit includes an example program called LeakyApp.exe. This program has the typical fault of constantly allocating more and more memory. Start LeakyApp and investigate the memory counters with System Monitor.

CentOS 5 Webmin Virtual Server PART1 (i386)
This is a great tutorial. I have looked all over the web and this is the best. The only question I have is, what if you connect your machine to router and you restart and you can't connect to the web? what are the steps to know what your motherboard netcard name is and ip set up procedure is.

Audit Users on Linux
Another helpful bit of information is to check failed login attempts $grep 'Failed password' /var/log/auth.log To change password for dhosang you would type $sudo passwd dhosang Enter new UNIX password: Retype new UNIX password: sudo passwd -e dhosang
NOTE: the –e will force the user to change there password once they log in the first time with the temporary password you assigned. You could also make sure they are typing there username in correctly. This command will show you all the users on your server ''.str_replace(' ', '', 'cat /etc/passwd |grep "/home" |cut -d: -f1').'' You can also check the status of a users password by typing the following ''.str_replace(' ', '', ' $sudo passwd -S dhosang dhosang P 10/13/2011 0 99999 7 -1').''

AT&T issues with iPhone 4s
I've been lurking around this web-site for some time now and have finally decided to become a member. I truly take pleasure in reading about all of the different topics on this website . I'm a 25 years old male from Canada but not originally born there. I am originally from Spain. I relocated to Canada with our family in 2003 and have been living there ever since. Canada is a superb place and I loved from the very first time that I visited. I'm hoping to meet new people on this site as well as contribute to the discussions on this site which I think I should be able to. So all in all nice to meet you guys! <img src="/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="/emoticons/ 2x" width="20" height="20" />

debhelper build-essential Then I tried to run it against the downloaded rpm sudo alien hp-tg3-3.116j-3.src.rpm hp-tg3-3.116j-3.src.rpm is for architecture i386 ; the package cannot be built on this system Again, any suggestions would be great. I'm at a loss at this point.

Issues on Ubuntu 11.10 Server x64 with DL380 G4 with Broadcom
I have no idea what the heck is going on and HP site only has updates for Redhat (.rpm) and when I try and install the rpm on my Ubuntu 11.10 x64 Server it errors out saying the machine isn't i386. debhelper build-essential Then I tried to run it against the downloaded rpm sudo alien hp-tg3-3.116j-3.src.rpm hp-tg3-3.116j-3.src.rpm is for architecture i386 ; the package cannot be built on this system Again, any suggestions would be great. I'm at a loss at this point.
