Seattle Set For High-Stakes Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals
As the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series enters its final stretch of the regular season, the intensity continues to build during NHRA’s 75th anniversary season at the 37th annual Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, which takes place July 24-26 at Pacific Raceways. This year’s trip to the scenic Pacific Raceways will see the return of a traditional schedule of two qualifying sessions on Friday and two on Saturday. The biggest names on the NHRA tour will head to Seattle, as the scenic Pacific Northwest facility provides an incredible backdrop to the 12,000 horsepower, 340-mph nitro-burning machines. With just three events left during NHRA’s regular season, drivers will look to put on a show to pick up an NHRA Diamond Wally on Sunday as part of NHRA’s milestone campaign. The weekend kicks off Friday, July 24 with a pair of afternoon qualifying sessions to thrill the fans, while Saturday includes two more afternoon sessions, as well as the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock. That leads into raceday on Sunday, as all the top names look to pick up a coveted Seattle victory. This year’s event will also feature several 75th anniversary items, including: A special tribute and celebration of Jim Dunn, the legendary team owner who has been in the sport for more than 75 years. He was a two-time runner-up in Seattle and tuned his Funny Car to a win in 2008 with Tony Bartone behind the wheel. A new-look Nitro Mall, special displays and much more. Last year’s winners in Seattle included Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock). Langdon, Austin Prock and Glenn also earned Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge wins. This year’s race will be broadcast on FOX and FS1, with elimination coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET on FOX on Sunday, July 26. Langdon has been dominant in 2026, winning four races so far and advancing to seven final rounds. He has a commanding lead over his teammate and reigning world champion Doug Kalitta in second. Others to look for in Seattle will be Epping winner Leah Pruett, rookie standout and Norwalk winner Maddi Gordon, Bristol winner Antron Brown and motorsports legend and Winternationals winner Tony Stewart. Matt Hagan has won twice in 2026, including victories at Bristol and the historic 1,000th NHRA Funny Car race at the Winternationals. Hagan is currently second in points behind three-time world champ Ron Capps, who has three wins on the season – including most recently in Norwalk. Other Seattle winners include Jack Beckman and reigning world champion Austin Prock, who has wins in both nitro classes. Reigning Pro Stock world champion Dallas Glenn grew up racing at Pacific Raceways and won his event in Seattle last season when he took down five-time world champ Jeg Coughlin and shattered track records. Glenn leads the points after earning three wins this season, while his KB Titan Racing teammate and six-time champ Greg Anderson is second, with Matt Hartford in third thanks to three wins this season. The weekend kicks off on Thursday, July 23, with the $15,000 Mission Foods Tournament at Muckleshoot Casino Resort, where fans can register for free. It kicks off at 1 p.m. and will feature NHRA drivers on hand. That’s followed by the NHRA FanFest presented by Explore Auburn later that day from 5-7 p.m. PT in front of Dave & Buster’s at The Outlet Collection. Autographs and a meet and greet with NHRA standouts will take place from 6-7 p.m. The official event afterparty is free and takes place starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Galaxy lounge in Muckleshoot Casino Resort. Featuring a performance from Mini KISS. Also on schedule for the weekend is action in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Seattle race fans can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that introduce each driver and includes the fan favorite SealMaster Track Walk. Fans are also invited to congratulate the winners at the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday. As always, fans get a pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. Fans can see their favorite teams in action and servicing their cars, get autographs and more. They can also visit NHRA’s Manufacturers Midway, where sponsors and vendors create an exciting atmosphere. NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds on Friday, July 24 for Pro Stock at 2 and 4:30 p.m. PT, with Top Fuel and Funny Car taking to the track at 2:30 and 5 p.m. On Saturday, July 25, nitro teams will qualify at 12 and 2:30 p.m. with Pro Stock at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Race day will kick off with nitro eliminations on Sunday, July 26 at 10 a.m. Television coverage includes qualifying action at 10 p.m. ET on Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday on FS1, leading into eliminations on FOX at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday. GETTRX Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star Callout Returns to DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals
Eight of the top stars in NHRA’s Pro Stock Motorcycle category are headed west to Sonoma Raceway to compete in the GETTRX NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star Callout on Saturday, July 18, as part of the 38th annual DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. The unique callout style event will pit eight top riders in the class against each other, with two-time world champion Gaige Herrera getting the first pick. Herrera is seeded first, followed in order by reigning world champ Richard Gadson, defending event winner Matt Smith, Angie Smith, John Hall, Jianna Evaristo, Chase Van Sant and Steve Johnson. Gadson is the most recent winner on the NHRA tour, winning in Norwalk and has big hopes – and a little revenge – after going just -.001 red in last year’s Callout final against six-time world champ M. Smith in Sonoma. “I remember every pass and I remember every loss,” Gadson said. “Last year, in Sonoma, I had the best bike. I went .001 red and the finals to Matt. I’m remembering that. So, I’m going to go there and the lights are hopefully going to be green. Right now, I feel like I have a really good bike.” Smith, who is slated to return to action after sitting out the last two events following surgery, has dominated the specialty race and is after his third straight GETTRX NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star Callout win. He’ll be the third rider to make a pick – if he isn’t called out by either of the Vance & Hines teammates. With a $25,000 prize on the line for the winner of the one-day race, the eight riders will be ready. As part of a unique weekend, the Callout riders will only compete on Saturday, making test runs on Friday leading into the main event. Sunday’s eliminations of the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge will feature Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock. The first round of the GETTRX Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star Callout takes place at 11:15 a.m. PT on Saturday, with the semifinals at 1:30 p.m. and the finals at 3:30 p.m. Television coverage of the Callout begins at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday on FS1. “I’m not known for having the fastest motorcycle,” said Gadson. “But I have a really good motorcycle and when I’m on, I’m on. You have to get there in front of me. So, to go to Sonoma for a lot of money, I feel good about it. I feel like we’re in a good window right now and I got a shot at the All-Star Callout, so we’re going to give it a try.” The DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge will feature a full weekend of action in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock at the 11th of 20 events in 2026. NHRA’s 75th anniversary season will also feature the following in Sonoma: An appearance from legendary NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car world champion Gary Scelzi. Scelzi is one of only three drivers in NHRA history to claim world titles in both Top Fuel (1997, 1998, 2000) and Funny Car (2005). NHRA will honor Scelzi’s accomplishments at his home track in Sonoma. Brittany Force appears on the special commemorative ticket for the event following her incredible 343.16-mph run from a season ago. A new-look Nitro Mall, special displays and more. The 2025 DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge featured wins by Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Austin Prock (Funny Car) and Greg Stanfield (Pro Stock). This year’s race will once again be broadcast on FS1, including eliminations at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 19. Reigning Top Fuel world champion Kalitta is the winningest driver in class history at Sonoma Raceway with six wins. His teammate Shawn Langdon has dominated this season and currently leads the points. Others to watch will be four-time champ Antron Brown, Epping winner Leah Pruett, Winternationals winner Tony Stewart, Gainesville winner Josh Hart, and Norwalk winner and rookie standout Maddi Gordon. Two-time reigning Funny Car champion Austin Prock won for the first time in Sonoma last season, defeating 2025 Rookie of the Year Spencer Hyde. Prock currently has one win on the season from Maryland while three-time world champ Ron Capps leads the points, with three wins so far in 2026. Last year’s Pro Stock final was a family affair, as Greg Stanfield defeated his son, Aaron, in the final round. A. Stanfield has two wins on the year in 2026, while reigning world champion Dallas Glenn currently leads the points with his KB Titan Racing teammate and six-time world champion Greg Anderson in second. The event also features thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the popular Top the Cops exhibition race. Sonoma race fans can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that introduce and celebrate each of the drivers racing for the prestigious Wally on Sunday and the SealMaster Track Walk. After racing finishes on Sunday, fans are invited to congratulate and celebrate with event winners. Fans always get an exclusive pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet and can visit Manufacturers Midway, featuring displays, merchandise, food and fun. NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 4:55 and 6:55 p.m. PT on Friday, July 17, and the final two rounds on Saturday, July 18 at 11:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11 a.m. PT on Sunday, July 19. Television coverage includes the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on FS1. Elimination coverage begins at 10 p.m. ET on FS1 on Sunday. Trick-Tools Racing, PowerEdge Announce Partnership for Remainder of 2026 NHRA Season
Trick-Tools Racing is proud to announce a new partnership with PowerEdge®, a brand of DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc., for the remainder of the 2026 NHRA Drag Racing season. PowerEdge will serve as an associate sponsor on rider Chase Van Sant’s Pro Stock Motorcycle throughout the season and will be the primary sponsor at two marquee events: the GETTRX All-Star Pro Stock Motorcycle Callout event at the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals, and the Mopar NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The NHRA All-Star Callout is a specialty race that features the top 8 riders in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Points Standings who race for valuable bonus points towards the 2026 NHRA Championship, big purse money, and bragging rights. This “race within a race” takes place during Saturday’s qualifying schedule. Higher-seeded riders get the chance to “call out” or select their first-round match-up from the rest of the field, instead of the traditional ladder bracket system, igniting rivalries and embracing grassroots drag racing that the NHRA Drag Racing Series was built on. Winners from each round move on until an overall winner is crowned. “We’re incredibly excited to welcome PowerEdge to the Trick-Tools Racing team,” said Chase Van Sant, rider for Trick-Tools Racing. “Both Trick-Tools Racing and PowerEdge understand the importance of reliability. Whether it’s a PowerEdge customer depending on a starter or alternator to get them where they need to go, or our team relying on every component to perform on race day, the goal is the same: deliver results when it matters most. That’s why this partnership makes so much sense.” PowerEdge offers durable aftermarket alternators, starters, and diesel aftertreatment products at an exceptional value, paired with trusted service and engineering expertise. The partnership brings together two organizations that share a commitment to performance, reliability, and delivering results under demanding conditions. PowerEdge branding will be prominently featured on Van Sant’s motorcycle throughout the season, with expanded visibility during the Sonoma Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway events, where the company will receive primary sponsorship placement. “PowerEdge is entering an exciting period of growth, and we’re proud to partner with Trick-Tools Racing to help showcase our brand on one of motorsports’ biggest stages,” said Lisa Michler, Manager of Marketing and Communications. “We’re looking forward to building a strong relationship, representing the PowerEdge brand at the highest level, and exploring even more opportunities together in the future.” About PowerEdge and DENSO PowerEdge is the aftermarket starter, alternator, and diesel aftertreatment brand of DENSO Products and Services Americas, an affiliate of global mobility supplier DENSO Corp. Its products are backed by DENSO’s premium sales, service, and logistics support. For more information, visit PowerEdgeProducts.com. Lucky in Kentucky: Pete Kaiser Conquers ‘The Beech’ at National Hot Rod Reunion
Luck in the way of good weather and racing was on full display at the annual trek to Kentucky for the nostalgia drag racing extravaganza that is the National Hot Rod Reunion. After a long March Meet layover, the NHRA Heritage Top Fuel combatants were back in action, ready for battle. Despite only five AA/FDs in the pits, the race action and drama was 16-car-field worthy. Tyler Hilton and the Great Expectations team rolled into Beech Bend with great expectations – the team won the March Meet for the first time and has won this event four years running. Michael Hilton, sitting No. 2 in points, went into Bowling Green seeking redemption for his March Meet red-light loss in the final to his nephew, the aforementioned Tyler Hilton. Pete Kaiser and the KFR Big Red Machine entry made the big tow east from California. He too is looking to strike and right his season. Qualifying brought out some great numbers from the usual suspects – Kaiser ultimately led the field and looked the part of the people’s champ, running the two best passes of the final qualifying day, ending No. 1 with a 5.76. Tyler Hilton, who went low in Q1, ended No. 2 with a 5.81, but his tire shake troubles in Q2 and Q3 would be taste of things to come in eliminations. Michael Hilton landed third with a 6.02, Brendan Murry and the West Coast “Running Wild” entry started No. 4 with a 6.20, and the newish Hangey/Martin AA/FD dubbed the “Revolution” sat last, still trying get a grip on a tune with a 10.31. Come eliminations, things got wild, so wild in fact that no Magic 8-ball on the planet could have predicted what was to come. Kaiser had the bye and smoked the tires on the hit – that is not good news – but he moved on. M. Hilton and Murry battled, with Hilton coming away with the win, 6.02 to 6.47. Then things got weird, very weird. Gerald Hangey, who had not driven this car past 200 feet all weekend or ever, pulled one out of the hat and drilled a 6.19 to take down the four-time event champ, Tyler Hilton’s tire smoking/shaking 6.29. Hilton chased, but his 253.66 could not catch the “Revolution” and the champ was done. The stunned crowd went nuts. Hangey had the bye in round two and saved parts, while M. Hilton and Kaiser got after it. At the green, Hilton was away first, very first, while Kaiser for the second time in as many rounds, smoked the tires. Hilton laid one up with a 6.41 to Kaiser’s dreadful 12.91 at 61 mph. Then the lucky part struck…Hilton red lit. RED LIT! Kaiser moved on. The Top Fuel final was the best race of the day as Hangey did indeed hang tough and again marched his car down the 1,320, logging an all-time best 5.93. Kaiser in the other lane ripped a solid, non-tire-smoking 5.90 for the win. The final was indeed a win-win…Kaiser won his first-ever Bowling Green title and shockingly took over the points lead. Hangey won his first-ever round of competition, made his first-ever final, and ran his personal-best ET and MPH all on the same weekend. Unreal. Cue the Fuel Altereds. At Bowling Green, these are not the usual and customary Transformer Funny Car types. No, these are 100% legit. There were three legends at the track this weekend: Brian Hope’s “Rat Trap,” Dave Giles’ “High Heaven,” and Bradford’s classic Tupelo were all on-site to put on a show. And that they did – long, smoky burnouts, wheels-up launches, and cone-crushing top-end passes on display. While it was a loose exhibition, the cars did run eliminations with Hope coming out on top, winning all three races and setting low ET and top speed for the class with a winning 6.38 at 232.79 MPH in the final. Dave Giles did earn style points and the “brass balls award” with his final pass of the day in the “High Heaven” entry. At the launch, the car went skyward with a huge wheelstand, nearly flipping backwards at 150 feet. Giles, to his credit, stuck the landing and emerged unscathed. The 6.0 Pro final looked to be a wild match-up with Michael Sexton squaring off against the wheels-up Funny Car of Larry Greer. Greer could not fire and the Sexton won his second Bowling Green title in a row. Gordon Smith took the 7.0 Pro title in his ’63 Corvette, while Jaxon Messamore took home the 7.50 Pro title in his ’57 Belair. The ultra-spectacular Nostalgia Gassers were out in colorful, tail-scraping force. It’s hard to upstage nitro, but this gang manages to level it up for certain. Jessica Lile’s retro ‘70s livery special, “The Gass Hole” entry, made the final but red-lighted the win to Leonard Mattingly. The nostalgia night-capper gave the fans one final treat and dose of nitro as a flock of nitro legends including a pair of Camaros – the Bruce Larsen “USA-1” and the classic “Jungle Jim” maroon roller – fired some nitro in the hole. The sun set on the Kentucky skyline and we were reminded, with all the great racing action and weather, we indeed got lucky. This story was originally published on July 6, 2026.
