Laid On Its Balls! How This Custom NBS Went From Show To Scrap And Back To Life And On The Road!
This truck has got some interesting history and has lived a rough life but has been brought back to life in a big way. After being built, this truck lit the show world on fire as it was laid out on 30 inch wheels. As far as we know it was the first to do so, and while I’m not a big fan of the huge wheel craze, the work required to make one this low is impressive. But after being seen by the world the dark times set in and this truck ultimately ended up in an auction at Copart. It had no suspension of any kind under it, and was being moved around by forklift. It was incredibly sad to say the least. But it was found, and saved, sort of. But that’s not the end of this story, not by a long shot. Watch the video and you’ll see what this thing was like and how it go to where it is now. It’s impressive that it survived this way. The post Laid On Its Balls! Southeast Gassers Association’s RAM Clutches Nationals To Be Completed At The Rock Revival
The lights of Knoxville Dragway were burning bright. Fans were energetically clamoring for their best spot to view the on-track action. Gassers were on track, displaying the best nostalgia gasser drag racing that is The Southeast Gassers Association Championship competition. Then the rain rolled in through the little valley where the Maynardville, Tennessee, facility sits. That evening’s shower forced the conclusion of the RAM Clutches Nationals at Knoxville Dragway. After completing all of qualifying and some of round one of eliminations in the C/Gas category, a shower forced the on-track action to stop. Track officials, who had already put immense effort into getting the track race ready due to an earlier shower, along with SEGA officials, made the call to postpone the event. The rain that moved in was only the beginning, with a much larger system following behind it – one that was expected to bring conditions to make Sunday unsuitable for racing. Eliminations for the RAM Clutches Nationals are now postponed until the opening night of The Rock Revival at Rockingham Dragway on July 31. Typically, SEGA Friday nights are a test and tune session in preparation for qualifying and eliminations the following day. With the weather forcing the action away from Knoxville Dragway, fans in Richmond County, North Carolina, and beyond have an opportunity to witness two races in one race weekend, an occurrence that is usually reserved for the event at Gulfport Dragway in Mississippi. Witness the completion of the RAM Clutches Nationals for 2026, firing up The Rock Revival on Friday at 5 p.m. eastern with the remaining eliminations to be contested, along with test and tune ($20 admission). Saturday has qualifying scheduled for 5 p.m. eastern with championship eliminations to follow, which will put SEGA action under the lights of Rockingham Dragway ($25 admission – $35 weekend pass). Get to The Rock for a rare double feature weekend that showcases the premier gasser drag racing in the world: the Southeast Gassers Association. For more information, you can visit www.southeastgassers.com or www.rockinghamdragway.com. Also check out the social media outlets for both the Southeast Gassers Association and Rockingham Dragway on the major platforms such as Facebook. Australian Drag and Drive Machine! This 1400hp HQ Ute was Built to Survive Drag Challenge. Street and Strip Greatness!
The Aussies are something special when it comes to hot rods, race cars, and especially their street strip machines. With all the restrictions they have on what you can do to a car or truck over there, it’s amazing the dedication they have to still participating in the hot rod and racing community. And thank god for that! This 1,400 horsepower, twin-turbocharged, LS powered beast is nothing short of amazing. Everything about this cool Ute is special and I just can’t stop drooling over it. Thankfully the guys at STREET MACHINE have done an amazing feature on it and put it on the cover of the magazine, but this video is something else as well. Man this thing sounds great and we can’t wait to see just how quick they will make it. John Jackson visits Squeeg’s Kustoms: Shop Tour, Projects, an insane Dodge A100, and photographing the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster!
After missing it for a couple of years, it was good to be back at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona in 2025. It was especially cool because the field of cars that were in contention for America’s Most Beautiful Roadster were all over the place in terms of style and attitude, both of which describe the Squeeg’s Kustoms built 1932 Ford Roadster that won. It was my personal pick for the car I loved most, in a field of really cool rides, but I really didn’t think it would win because the style was a bit different than your average AMBR competitor and often being the outsider doesn’t pay off. But it paid off this time! If you haven’t seen this car yet, you are in for a treat. This one really is something special. Video Description: We got exclusive behind-the-scenes access to one of the most legendary hot rod shops in America: Squeeg’s Kustoms in Arizona! In this video, we’re checking out their incredible America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) winning 1932 Ford Roadster—and we’re doing more than just looking at it. We actually go underneath the AMBR car to give you a rare, close-up look at the mind-blowing fabrication and detail work that most people never get to see. After crawling under the ’32 Ford, we take this multi-award-winning hot rod out for an epic automotive photoshoot at an iconic, vintage Arizona motel, complete with beautifully restored neon signs that make the car’s flawless paint absolutely pop. But that’s not all! Squeeg gives us a full, unrestricted shop tour of his current projects. You’ll see his crazy, orange drag-inspired Dodge A100 truck, and get a look at some of the wildest, heavy metal flake paint jobs he’s been spraying lately. If you love custom cars, automotive photography, classic hot rods, and insane paintwork, you do not want to miss this! Birthday Beckman Earns Runner-Up Finish at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Jack Beckman was seeking his career fourth Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals title to celebrate his 60th birthday on Sunday, but the PEAK SQUAD had to settle for their third runner-up finish of the season when Ron Capps beat the PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car to the finish line. John Force Racing’s Alexis DeJoria was a semifinalist, Josh Hart bowed out in the second round and Jordan Vandergriff’s day ended in the first round. The long-time competitors and former teammates left the starting line with nearly identical reaction times (Beckman’s .051 to Capps’ .048) and it was a close race throughout, but Capps grabbed the win with his run of 3.969 seconds at 328.54 mph to Beckman’s 4.011 seconds at 323.43 mph. It was the second time this season the two squared off in a final round, with Beckman also finishing runner-up in Charlotte. “The PEAK SQUAD was three hundredths of a second away from the perfect weekend,” said Beckman. “It was a darn good weekend. Our PEAK Chevy was making good, consistent, quick laps and this is what’s going to win championships. We’re getting into the hot summer months and we’re running good in cool conditions on hot race tracks. We haven’t done the autopsy on the engine but I think we wounded it in the final round. It’s frustrating to get that far and not close the deal. But, to put it in perspective, we were the second-best Funny Car here this weekend. We made a move up in points. We tightened to everybody in front of us except Capps. “The nice thing is this is when other cars start taking a shot against you because they know we’re driving solid, we’re tuning solid, and the PEAK Chevy’s just gonna be a really tough combination to get around. We’ve gone to three final rounds in the last four races and we got our first win. Just give me any racetrack.” Beckman, who earned victories at Norwalk in 2009, 2015 and 2017, made his 81st final round appearance in this year’s event. He defeated Spencer Hyde in round one, Daniel Wilkerson in the second round, and Austin Prock in the semifinals. DeJoria faced Capps in her fourth semifinals showing of the 2026 season. She grabbed the holeshot by just two thousandths of a second (.079 to .081) but hazed the tires before halftrack, slowing to a run of 4.905 seconds at 160.81 mph to Capps’ 4.051 seconds at 310.13 mph. “We had the best, most consistent, fast race car through most of the day until the semifinals,” said DeJoria. “That was the first run, we didn’t make a sub 4-second run. We’ve earned 47 points this weekend and that’s strong. There are no issues. We know exactly how our car is running. We now know exactly what this Bandero Café Chevy is capable of and we feel really strong about it. I’ll say it again, any one of these upcoming races is going to be ours. We know we have a car to win. And that’s all that matters.” DeJoria defeated Blake Alexander in round one and Chad Green in the second round. Hart defeated Scott Farley in round one with a run of 3.962 seconds at 275.39 mph to Farley’s 5.396 and 135.54. Matched up against Clay Millikan in round two, the Speedmaster Top Fuel Dragster grabbed the holeshot (.065 to .076) but lost traction and smoked the tires 100 feet into the run. He pedaled the throttle, trying to hook the rear tires back up and Millican lost traction at halftrack but, by then, had enough momentum to take the win, running 4.290 seconds to Hart’s 5.290 seconds. “It was a rough day for the Speedmaster team,” said Hart. “I felt like I did a good job on the tree in the second round but, when the car started to haze the tires and I attempted to pedal it, it just sat sideways and didn’t like it. There was zero traction at that point. The track and weather conditions changed pretty quickly today and we weren’t able to adapt quick enough. We’ll regroup and be ready for Sonoma in three weeks.” In his round one matchup against J.R. Todd, Vandergriff had a good reaction time (.060) and a solid run of 3.946 seconds at 329.83 mph but Todd had a great reaction (.043) and took the win despite a slower run of 3.951 seconds at 329.42 mph. “That one was really tough but that’s drag racing,” said Vandergriff. “I had a good performance, but Todd had a fantastic performance. We put ourselves in that position by qualifying 11th and we obviously want to be higher than that coming into race day. When you go up against J.R. Todd and the Yellow Fellas, you know you’re going to throw down. But, overall, it was a great week getting to spend time with everyone at Cornwell Quality Tools leading into the weekend and then competing for them at the track. We know we have a great race car and we can’t wait for the rest of the year.” The 11th of 20 races of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series is the July 17-19 DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. The post Birthday Beckman Earns Runner-Up Finish at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals first appeared on Drag Illustrated. View the full article

The State of American Performance: Corvette ZR1X vs. Mustang GTD vs. Lucid Sapphire vs. Czinger 21C on the Road and the Track.
Horsepower has never been easier to make, more readily available, or more usable than it is in 2026. And while car prices have climbed, and I certainly can’t afford any of these machines here, the price of a ZR1X and Mustang GTD are low in comparison to what anything trying to be near them in performance would cost and are a fraction of the price of the Lucid and Czinger that are in this video. So can the old American icons take on the other two? Watch and find out. Is this the state of American Performance in 2026? 1320 Video is back at it, this time with new video from their parking lot party car show. We’re used to having big spaces here in the States, but in many big cities in the rest of the world they take over parking garages for car shows and it totally makes sense. We’ve seen plenty of them on videos from Larry Chen and 1320Video, and they certainly look cool. So when 1320Video decided to throw their own local car show a few years ago, the parking garage party seemed like the perfect fit. Check out the video below to see all the cool stuff that showed up this year and let us know what you think! Video Description: For the fourth year in a row, we hosted Hot Summer Nights right here in Omaha, Nebraska. What started as a way to give back to the local car community has grown into one of our favorite events of the year. The same community that has supported 1320video for years showed up once again in a BIG way, with more than 1,000 vehicles attending and over 800 cars packed into the four-level parking garage. Hyde and Head Recognized as Hometown Heroes in Norwalk
Nitro Funny Car driver Spencer Hyde was a hometown hero this weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. Both Hyde and his legendary crew chief and team owner, Jim Head, were kept busy on and off the track. Even though they made a fierce race day attempt, the Head Contractors and Engineers Funny Car had an early exit after the first round. “If we had made the pass we executed during the first round of eliminations during qualifying, today could have ended very differently,” said Hyde. “But that’s drag racing for you. We had the fifth quickest pass of the first round, and it just wasn’t enough against our competition. Hopefully things will swing in our favor next race.” Hyde entered race day on Sunday in the No. 13 qualifying position, based on the final pass he made during qualifying, a 3.965 second, 322.19 mph run. He was up against No. 4 qualifier Jack Beckman, who he had a 2-1 record against going into this matchup. Even though Hyde made a stout 3.936 second, 327.19 mph pass, it was not enough against the 2012 Funny Car world champion. Beckman went on to make it to the finals.“I have a lot of respect for Jack Beckman, both as a driver and as a mentor to so many of the Funny Car guys out here,” said Hyde. “Today was his 60th birthday, so the only positive way I am looking at this first round loss is knowing I at least didn’t send a guy packing on a milestone birthday.” Outside of his on-track performance, Hyde participated in an autograph session on Saturday at the Right2Breathe display with Joe Morrison, reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Richard Gadson and Top Alcohol Dragster standout Melanie Johnson. On Friday, Jim Head joined the announcers in the booth as he was recognized at this race’s legend during the 75th anniversary of the NHRA. Leading into the quarterfinals, Hyde stepped into the booth for the Next Round with Joe Castello. And all weekend, both Hyde and Head hosted friends and family in their pits, for their hometown race. Head is from Ohio, while Hyde, a Canadian, considers the Norwalk track his ‘American home track.’ “It was so great to have my friends and family here to support me this weekend,” said Hyde. “I grew up racing with my family, so having them with me on this journey now in Funny Car means a lot.” The Norwalk race officially marks the halfway point of the season. There are now just four races left before the Countdown to the Championship. Coming out of this weekend, Hyde and the team have two weekends in a row off before heading to Sonoma. “We’re all going to get some much needed rest before buckling down and trying to get as many points as possible before the Countdown starts,” said Hyde. “We have to keep making Hyde Construction, OUTLAW Light Beer and the Caine Group proud as we get into the thick of the rest of this season.” Hyde and the Head Contractors and Engineers Funny Car will be back in competition in three weeks at the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge on July 17-19 at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. There will be two qualifying sessions on Friday, July 17 and two qualifying sessions on Saturday, July 18. For tickets or more information on the NHRA Sonoma Nationals visit nhra.com.
