  1. Cowboy Denny commented on alex's blog entry in Gear Crushers's GC Blog
All these posts was on the GearCrushers website when that was a thing so just moving them over to this site so the dates are way off. Let me catch up with the comments from the other site here: Ordered driveshaft and removal wasn't bad, the install was another story. The bolts towards the front of the car snapped in half. Wasn't sure how to recover so had vehicle towed to Muffler Man for $100 and had some help removing bolts I snapped off the transfer case yoke while putting on new driveshaft and new muffler put on as well. Total bill was $650 which Dad paid. We got plates put on the car which cost Alex $191 but his plates expire on his birthday in 6 months at which time he'll have to pay the $122 to renew for a year. Check Engine light came on when we took it out for a drive today so made an appointment at Toyota tomorrow at 10am to have them help identify the issue since I didn't have a scanner at the time. Of course by the time I drove there and turned the car off and they started it up the Engine Light was gone. Came home and later started the car and check engine light was back on. Went to AutoZone and bought and bought a mid priced scanner. Low tire pressure sensor which I cleared and all is good. Put new Radio in so Alex doesn't take his eyes off the road when using GPS or text messages and phone calls. Its was a little more than $200 off of Amazon and fairly easy to install. We did that together so he knew how it all went together. His tire blew out on the freeway and he handled it pretty good but drove too far on the rim and now that rim is toast. He found out the lug wrench he had wouldn't work on his lug nuts/rim so I ordered him a new lug wrench but to address the sitation of a flat tire that day I called RoadRunner towing and had it towed down to Belle Tire and his mom paid for some new tires.

The Shore to Shore trip is not too far away and we are excited! Thank you so much for joining us on our adventure. This document is your informational letter for the weekend. Print it and bring it with you. Hopefully it will answer most of your questions. Below is the attentive schedule for the weekend. It may change a bit because sometimes trail riding does that. But this is our goal… First things first: The official start of the event is Thursday morning (sunrise is at 5:51am) but we know that Oscoda is a trek for many. There are also a couple of places to stay in town if you would prefer a bed and bathroom the night before. Hotel suggestions: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oscoda (we will be staying here) 114 N Lake St, Oscoda, MI 48750 AmericInn by Wyndham Oscoda Near AuSable River720 E Harbor St, Oscoda, MI 48750•(989) 739-1986 Camp INN Lodge, LLC3111 US-23, Oscoda, MI 48750•(989) 739-2021 Pines On the Lake5486 N US-23, Oscoda, MI 48750•(989) 739-5741 VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: All vehicles must have 4 wheel drive! Please take the time to inspect your vehicle before arriving. Make sure all fluids are full and 4 wheel drive engages properly. Do you have a spare tire? Does your vehicle require a lug key? Every vehicle MUST have a tow point front and rear. This could be as simple as a rear hitch tow point. We suggest (not required) bringing basic recovery gear. We always carry a thorough recovery kit and can lend supplies and a helping hand to anyone that needs it. We will ask you to air down your tires and will explain more about that at the drivers meeting. CAMPING AND FOOD: You are responsible for all of your own camping gear and food this weekend. The temperatures can get into the 40-50’s at night. BE PREPARED! As a rule of thumb, women tend to need sleeping bags that are rated for 20-30 degrees lower than actual temperatures. Bring a tarp to put on the ground under your tent for extra insulation. Air mattresses are not insulated well. Don’t forget your trail snacks, picnic lunch, breakfast and dinner that can be cooked over the fire or at camp. Alcoholic beverages are allowed to be enjoyed around the campfire but NOT ON THE TRAIL. Anyone found to be drinking on the trail will be escorted to the closest town and their adventure with Discover 4x4 will come to an end. There will be pit toilets at camp and we do stop at a couple along the route. Please plan to pack out what you pack in. Be kind to nature and do not litter (this includes toilet paper). ITINERARY : THURSDAY 5:45 am meet-up for sunrise. We’ll have coffee and donuts. Location: Oscoda Beach Park 201 E River Rd, Oscoda, MI 48750 ***Please arrive with a full tank of fuel and your Michigan ORV license, trail permit and park pass. These can be purchased at most hardware stores, Meijer and Walmart stores throughout the state. They can also be purchased on the DNR website (https://www.mdnr-elicense.com/). If you do purchase them on the website and do not receive them in time for the trip, keep your proof of purchase with you on the trail. 5:51am Sunrise 6:15am Registration and driver’s meeting 7:00am Depart for trail 12:00pm/1:00pm Arrive at lunch spot We aim to eat no later than 1, but we never know what we may encounter on the trail. Didn't know I would enjoy a vehicle so much but this 5th Gen 4Runner does everything any other offroad vehicle built similar can do and not be towed home.

Talk about regrets.. This was the cleanest Jimmy with new body panels anywhere there was rust. Repainted professionally, new 350 V8 engine, interior was clean and it had a snow plow on it. LOVED it! Why did I sell it? wanted more.

I loved and truly miss having this blazer. It reminded me of how great vehicles were when I was young.
